An Intimate Cliff Townhouse Wedding | Tríona and Alistair’s Dublin City Centre Real Wedding

The Venue: Cliff Townhouse, Dublin

In the tradition of starting as you mean to go on, our first ever real wedding feature is a trove of gorgeous personal touches. The happy couple, Tríona and Alistair, had an intimate wedding ceremony, celebrating their marriage with 17 of their nearest and dearest.

Both the wedding ceremony reception and reception at Dublin City Centre’s Cliff Townhouse, a boutique hotel that overlooks St. Stephen’s Green.

It’s an Only a Wedding favourite because it’s got all the trappings of a historic building, high ceilings, huge fireplaces, but it’s not at all stuffy. There’s lovely lightness the ceremony room, and modern decor throughout. It’s sophisticated without feeling pretentious.

The Dress: Aijek via ASOS

We’d be lying if we said our ASOS saved items didn’t suddenly get a lot whiter and more lacy after seeing Tríona’s Aijek gown. The scalloping on the neckline, the sheer skirt – perfect for a summer wedding in the city.

Decor: DIY + The Crate Florists, Dublin

The bride’s bouquet is by Dublin florists The Crate, but Tríona crafted the rest of the floral displays herself, using flowers from Aldi. In another clever DIY move, the couple sourced their confetti pouches after finding the perfect materials on eBay. Not too much of a splurge at all, but really high-impact in photos – see the confetti shot below!

The Cake: Friendor’s Finest!

Alistair’s mother made the cake for the wedding, a chocolate biscuit cake that she decorated with fresh flowers and berries. It’s one of the most best contributions we’ve seen from a friendor – it looks incredible, plus there’s no wiser choice for wedding cake than chocolate biscuit (it stays fresh for ages, so you’ll start your marriage off with a rake of leftover cake – win!).

The Photographer: Katie Kavanagh

This isn’t Katie Kavanagh’s first apperance on Only a Wedding; she came out tops in our search for your favourite wedding photographers. We love how chilled-out and natural her work is; her couples always look so at ease. We’ve also been watching her own wedding plans unfold on her Instagram page, because it’s always so interesting to see what choices industry pros make.

The Takeaway

Tríona and Alistair took care to focus their planning efforts on people, not tiny details. This was great foresight on their part; one of the most common regrets couples have is they stressed themselves out too much when planning their big day. We think the closeness of the couple and their guests shines through in the photos, and there’s no styling detail that could rival that.
