Vintage Tea Tours, Dublin

Another tea less ordinary, Dublin’s Vintage Tea Tours takes you and your brew around the city on an old-school Routemaster bus. It’s a nice option if you’re unfamiliar with the city and want to get some sightseeing done without wasting valuable eating time.

The Westin is known for its quirky and themed afternoon tea menus. The Mad Hatter’s Tea is one for larger parties, allowing for private hire of an entire suite. The Botanical Afternoon Tea is a boozy affair, centred around gin cocktails in small teapots.

Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan

Hillgrove Hotel caters to hen parties like no other venue. There’s a range of weird and wonderful packages, from pottery making to CSI-themed day where your spouse-to-be is kidnapped.

Whether you go full Liam Neeson or not, traditional afternoon tea at the hotel is priced from just €18 per person.


Afternoon Tea at Father Ted’s House, Clare

If you’ve not yet made the pilgrimage to the filming location of Father Ted, gather your hens and get booking. The iconic farmhouse offers a more casual afternoon tea at just €10 per person.

After you’ve been fed, watered and are well versed in the history of the show, there’s the option of a separate guided tour of the Burren landscape.

Bach 16, Dublin

If you’re tapas mad, check out small restaurant on the quays. The alternative afternoon tea menu swaps buns and biscuits for bruschetta, cured meats and cheeses. There’s plenty of choice in the wine menu, and the restaurant is minutes from Temple Bar – perfect if you’re planning on fitting in some more typical hen activities later in the day.

For some proper indulgence, look to Hayfield Manor in Cork. The five-star hotel is known for its food, but it’s made our list because it’s central but has the laid-back charm of a rural resort.

The Savoy, Limerick

With a menu so good we took a screenshot and shared it to our WhatsApp group, The Savoy serves afternoon tea in The Library room. It’s modern but cosy, a lovely spot for autumn and winter parties.

Cupan Taé, Galway and Mayo

If you take your tea seriously, Cupan Taé in Galway should be on your radar. They stock more flavours and blends of tea than you could possibly get through in one weekend, but, should you try to, you’ll do it in the cutest surrounds we’ve seen.

Afternoon tea, including sandwiches with tea-inspired sandwiches (our kind of inspo!) starts at €20 per person.

Lough Eske, Donegal
